To report gang activity in
Talbot

The public can report gang information to the Easton Police Department at 410-822-1111.

Talbot County is located on the eastern shore of Maryland adjacent to Caroline, Queen Anne’s, and Dorchester counties and is bordered by the Chesapeake Bay. According to the 2000 census, the population is approximately 34,000 with 12,000 of those living in Easton. Most of the county is rural and gang activity is primarily in Easton.

As in many jurisdictions in Maryland, gangs are an emerging problem in Talbot County, primarily in Easton. Police gather information from a variety of sources but it is hard to identify all of the gangs and gang members in the area and to get an accurate picture of how much gang-related crime exists. Gang information is often gathered as a supplemental to other investigations focusing on drug crimes.

Gangs in Easton are primarily Latino gangs such as MS-13 and 18th Street, as well as local neighborhood based African-American gangs. The size and criminal activity of these gangs are still under investigation. Police report that gang activity and crime appears to be minimal.

If a parent is concerned about a child as potentially being involved in gangs, the first resource is the child’s school counselor or pupil personnel worker. For a list of school telephone numbers, please consult list of schools. Click on Elementary, Middle or High Schools in the red column on the far left.
