Somerset County is located on the eastern shore of Maryland adjacent to Wicomico and Worcester counties and is bordered by the Chesapeake Bay and Virginia. According to the 2000 census, the population is approximately 25,000. Most of the county is rural and police report emerging gang activity including limited gang activity in Crisfield and Princess Anne. Police have identified gangs including Hot Boys, MS-13 and Dog town Posse. The extent of gang-related crime is still under investigation.
