Caroline

The public can report gang information to the Caroline County Sheriff’s Office at 410-479-2515.

Caroline County is located on the eastern shore of Maryland adjacent to Queen Anne’s, Talbot, and Dorchester counties and is bordered by Delaware. According to the 2000 census, the population is approximately 30,000. Most of the county is rural.

Gangs are an emerging problem in Caroline County and police report minimal gang-related crime. However there are increasing indications of possible gang activity based on the presence of gang graffiti and from anecdotal information gathered from suspects. Based on this information, officials believe the following gangs are present MS-13, Bloods, Crips, Black Guerilla Family, Sureno, Latin Kings and the occasional presence of Pagans, an Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

If a parent is concerned about a child as potentially being involved in gangs, the first resource is the child’s school counselor or pupil personnel worker. For a list of school telephone numbers, please consult list of schools.
